We're hiring - Design Engineer


APiC UK Limited are one of the largest Aluminium Glazing Companies located in the West Midlands and Gloucestershire area. The company designs, fabricates and installs aluminium curtain walling, windows, doors and screens, roof glazing and structural glazing systems.


Established in June 2006, the Company has grown to a workforce of 85 people occupying 48,000 sq ft. The Company is able to offer products utilising the Kawneer, Metal Technology, Comar and Planar ranges which include ground floor treatments, shopfronts, entrances, windows, curtain walling, roof glazing, high performance thermal products and structural glass solutions.


Due to commercial success and a full order book APiC are looking to expand its in house Design resource In the West Midlands offices.


Duties Include:

Producing project specific 2D designs using AutoCAD software in accordance with project specification and tender quotation. Designs to include elevations, frame schedules, large scale interface details

Co-ordinate project drawings with the projects design team, achieve Client approval / sign off

Liaise and co-ordinate drawings with our Structural Engineer for checking

Produce fabrication schedules and material summaries for ordering

Identify changes and raise any mid project variations

Attend design co-ordination meetings when required including occasional site surveys

Liaise closely with other departments within the company

Work in-line with project programme

Coordinate fabricated materials with despatch


Candidate Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be competent in the use of Microsoft office, Word, Excel & AutoCAD 2D software, ideally have experience designing and scheduling Curtain Wall, Windows & Doors, preferably using Kawneer or Metal Technologies range of systems

Experience in other system suppliers would be considered

Not essential but experience using LogiKal based software would be beneficial. Experience using Revit or similar modelling software is not essential but would be advantageous

Have excellent attention to detail

Excellent communication / customer service skills
